Ascending to an oceanic planet

In a single night I went from the lowest region of the astral I have ever visited to a world of ocean and light. It is one of the most dramatic shifts from a lower dimension to a higher one I have ever had.

It began in an ordinary dream. I was with a group of friends in a small, low-key jazz bar, full of friendly, relaxed people enjoying an improvising band. I bought some food at the bar, and when we all left, I followed behind, eating it. On the city streets I lost sight of my friends, and looked for them down dark alleys. The roads became eerier and more desolate, and the fear jolted me into lucidity. This often happens when I feel fear in a dream: something in me switches to high alert and turns on my waking consciousness.

Not wanting to be in that dream any longer, I intended to end it and enter the astral. Usually the dream collapses and I arrive in a normal, Earth-like region of the astral. This time I entered the lower regions instead.

The lowest place

Instead of dark streets of black and grey, I was in a crumbling, post-apocalyptic city of smoky black and red, with small fires inside half-demolished buildings and a pitch-black sky. There was hostility and insidiousness in the air. In a large courtyard, people who looked diseased walked slowly, with no idea where they were going: lost souls, so far gone in their suffering that they looked like zombies. One of them noticed me, and suddenly ran at me with a growl. Without any thought, I cast a force of light at him, which threw him backwards into the air. I had never done that before. It was instinctive.

Realizing there wasn’t much I could do there, I intended to leave, and felt myself travelling downward, underground. I began to hear a demonic voice, and realized I was going in the wrong direction. With pure willpower I flew upward, chanting the mantra Om, and came back up through the surface, leaving the crowd beneath me.

Through the stars

The fear of going even lower must have given me a powerful surge of energy, because the next part blew my mind. I didn’t stop somewhere normal as I usually do. I accelerated, and felt myself pass through what I can only describe as a celestial atmosphere. I felt my head and mind expand, as if my consciousness were merging into space. I lost my usual form and became only awareness. I enjoyed this expansion so much that I willed myself to go even faster, and soon I seemed to be travelling through a wormhole. Stars, planets, meteors and space clouds went past me.

It was a change of state. I turned from the fear, I turned upward, and the country changed to match me.

A planet of water

Eventually I was in front of a beautiful, blue, Earth-like planet, and I sensed it was light-years from our own. As I gazed at it, I found myself inside a room in a tall building, filled with bright light. I looked at my hands; I was back in my usual form. The room was immaculate, like a hotel, with pure white furniture, and I stood before a tall, floor-length window, looking out at the most majestic expanse of crystal-clear ocean I had ever seen. There was pure golden light on the horizon, rising into a glowing neon blue. In the middle of the ocean was an island with colorful, tropical-looking vegetation I didn’t recognize.

Below the surface, giant creatures the size of whales swam in groups, like a mixture of whale, goldfish and koi. On the water were people, or humanoids is a better word: built like humans, but larger, more flexible, less hairy, and clearly good swimmers. I was so high up that I couldn’t see them clearly, and I felt so far from Earth that I was the alien, reluctant to draw attention to myself. But I could hear their cheering and laughter as they jumped in and out of the sea and swam with the creatures, with whom they clearly had a close bond. Their joy was immense and infectious. It was a stark contrast to where I had just been.

On a wall of the bare white room, a holographic screen showed my location on a map. I didn’t recognize the landscape; most of it was water, which made me think this was mostly a water-based planet. Then I saw their moon. It was no regular moon: bigger, and shining powerfully, as bright as a star, as if it had solar rays beaming from its sides. As I stared at it, trying to understand how it could be so bright, I began to feel off balance.

Someone was in the room with me. I heard a woman’s voice telling me about the place, but I couldn’t make out her appearance. I told her I had to go, because I felt myself losing energy. Even though I couldn’t see her, I could feel her smiling at me. I felt love. I let myself go, and my awareness glided gracefully back to my body. Without moving or opening my eyes, I recalled the whole experience, all the way back to the jazz bar. I had a deep sense that I had been to that planet before, and that I knew the woman.

Crossing states

In the space of a single minute I had gone from the lowest region I have ever visited to one of the highest, and what carried me was not courage. I turned from the fear, I turned upward, and I did not stop rising. Perhaps, after that jolt of fear, a deep part of me wanted to go somewhere familiar, somewhere happy.

When I flew past stars in January 2021 I was not crossing space; I was crossing states, and the stars were how the crossing showed itself to me.

This is one example of how we can have interesting experiences even in the lower astral, and how, instead of acting out of fear, we can calmly proceed to more profound levels of reality.
